In this article today I’d like to discuss several tips, tricks, and tactics that just about anybody can use to help have the body of a 40-year-old even when you are well into your senior years.
Nobody likes the idea of getting old and certainly nobody likes the idea of dying. Fortunately there are many things we can do to help keep a healthy and young looking body well into old age and that’s what I would like to talk about in this article today.
Most people think that as you get older your body starts to look old and there’s nothing you can do about it but the fact of the matter is that there are many different things that you can do to help stop the signs of aging and even to turn back the clock and reverse the signs of aging.
Scientist believe that our bodies age primarily because of things called free radicals. Free radicals are found in many different foods that we eat such as meats and also fast food and processed foods and some baked goods as well.
Luckily we can fight against free radicals by focusing on eating a diet of foods that are rich in antioxidants. There are hundreds if not thousands of different foods that are very rich in antioxidants and they primarily include fruits, vegetables and some whole grains. Foods high in vitamin C and vitamin E are especially rich in antioxidants and anything you can do to increase consumption of these types of foods is beneficial from an anti aging point of view.
Diet alone however is not enough. You also have to focus on exercise. There are two types of exercise to focus on when it comes to anti aging and they are, weightlifting and aerobic exercise.
The older you are the more muscle mass you lose naturally. This can be a primary cause of looking old because without a certain amount of muscle mass your body becomes more prone to different diseases and medical conditions that can adversely affect you.
Because of this, the older you are the more important it is to create a weightlifting regime of at least 30 minutes a day three times a week. You should not engage in any weightlifting activities without the help and supervision of a trained professional. Most gyms provide personal trainers and physical therapists that can help guide you along the way and create a weightlifting plan that’s right for you and you alone. I don’t expect you to start lifting weights like a bodybuilder, you should ease into it gradually.
Apart from weightlifting you should also engage in 30 minutes of aerobic activity at least three days a week, generally on off days when you aren’t doing your weight training.
These three things alone, aerobic exercise, weight training exercise, and a healthy diet based on antioxidant foods such as fruits and vegetables can do wonders to change your life around and give you the body of a 40-year-old well past the age of 70.
